Haldy Tower

The Haldy Tower is a sight of Ründeroth .

The Haldy Tower, built in 1903, stands above Ründeroth. It is 18 m high and the viewing platform can be reached via 92 steps. The Haldy Tower was built with funds from a collection of the citizens in honor of the district administrator Richard Haldy (1885 to 1899 district administrator of the then Gummersbach district ). The district administrator lived in the Ley house . From the Haldy Tower there is a good view of and over the town of Ründeroth and its surroundings.

The care of the tower is the responsibility of the home and beautification association Ründeroth.

The view is no longer restricted, in the Aggertal it was made possible again by removing trees. This also benefited the rare deadly nightshade ( Atropa belladonna ), which needs light to thrive. The promotion of the highly endangered plant and similarly rare other plants was rated higher by the Biological Station of the Oberbergischer Kreis than the forest at this point in the nature reserve .
