The moated castle Haus Ley is a former moated castle in the town of the same name in Engelskirchen ( North Rhine-Westphalia , Germany ).
The origin of the castle is medieval.
In 1370, the geographical location was first mentioned in a document by a Siegburg abbot in connection with a fiefdom, under the name zur Lyen . Von Neuhoff , a Bergisch civil servant family, owned the moated castle from the 15th to the extinction of the Neuhoff line in the 17th century. A Count Schwarzenberg then bought the castle and had it demolished towards the end of the 17th century for the construction of a new manor house. The building, which is now a listed building, has been run as an agricultural company since the 19th century.
The property can only be viewed from the outside.
