The Volperhausen Castle is a castle in Volperhausen in Oberbergischer Kreis , North Rhine-Westphalia . It is four kilometers from Morsbach , but still belongs to its municipality.
history
Volperhausen Castle was first mentioned in 1462, and the Oberbergisches Land Tourist Association speaks on its website from the beginning of the 16th century. The Niederungsburg had a rectangular floor plan with a stair tower attached to one of the long sides. This first installation was destroyed during the Thirty Years War . The reconstruction took place in 1682. In the 20th century several renovation works were carried out .
Originally the castle was owned by the Counts of Hatzfeld , but later it changed hands several times. It used to be an outpost of Crottorf Castle .
investment
Today the castle building consists of a three-storey quarry stone building with a slim stair tower . The moat that exists today , which was also used by the earlier mill next to the castle house, still indicates the type of a moated castle. Today there is a house on the foundation walls of the mill. The castle is privately owned and can therefore only be viewed from the outside.
