Inflator

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
An inflator as used by recreational divers.

Inflator can be translated with an air pump (e.g. on a bicycle ). In the German-speaking area, only the English name is used. It is the part of a diving equipment in scuba diving by which the buoyancy compensator with compressed air from the compressed air cylinder can be inflated. In an emergency, it is also possible to fill the buoyancy compensator with exhaled air using the mouthpiece on the inflator. The inflator usually also discharges the air from the BC. The inflator is a combination of a medium pressure hose, two valves, a mouthpiece and a corrugated hose that connect the first stage of the regulator and the buoyancy compensator.
