The company develops, produces and sells servo drives and servomotors , among other things . These are used in the control of individual movements in machines as well as in the overall control of machines, systems and devices that are used in industrial production, in the packaging industry and in industrial handling as well as in the process industry for food, chemicals, pharmaceuticals and textiles, the plastics and paper processing as well as in medical and nuclear technology.
history
The company was founded in 1941 by Perrot Duval Holding as Infranor SA in Coppet and initially manufactured lighting systems. Some of them are still in use today to illuminate the Eiffel Tower , the Parthenon and the Sphinx .
In 1959 the entry into industrial automation took place by taking over a small electronics laboratory founded by William P. Lear in Geneva. International expansion began in 1968 with the establishment of a subsidiary in Germany, followed by others in France, Spain, Great Britain, the Netherlands and the United States. In 1972 the company focused on the development, manufacture and sale of servo systems and sold the lighting business.
In 1987 the Infranor Group was spun off from Perrot Duval Holding and the individual subsidiaries were organized under the umbrella of Infranor Inter AG, based in Zurich.
