Infrared Mobile Communications

Infrared Mobile Communications ( IrMC ) is a standard for data transmission and synchronization of mobile devices ( PDA , IPAQ , smartphone ). Originally intended for synchronization via IrDA , IrMC can now be used with Bluetooth and USB .

The current (and also last) protocol version is IrMC 1.1.

Up to and including IrMC Level 4, OBEX is used for data transmission .

layers

The levels of IrMC implementations refer to capabilities that are supported.

Level 1
is little more than a simple object push
Level 2
allows the transfer of a complete database (contacts, calendar) in one step (intended for backup / restore)
Level 3
access to individual entries in the databases (not very widespread)
Level 4
allows a synchronization, whereby only the entries are transmitted that have changed since the last synchronization
Level 5
should no longer OBEX , but on SyncML based
