Ingólfsfjörður is a fjord in the West Fjords of Iceland .
The peninsula Munaðarnes with the headland Krossnes separates the fjord to the south from Norðurfjörður , to the north are the headland Seljanes and Ófeigsfjörður . The name, the fjord from the land lessee Ingolf Herröðarson. His brothers Ófeigur and Eyvindur settled north in fjords, which were also named after them.
Where the Ófeigsfjarðarvegur (road 649) coming from the Melavík Bay through the Meladalur reaches the south bank in Ingólfsfjörður near Eyri, a herring factory was built in 1942-44, like 12 km south in Djúpavík as the crow flies . As early as 1952 the operation was stopped again when the herring schools in the Húnaflói stopped . From Eyri the Ófeigsfjarðarvegur becomes the highland road F649 and ends in Ófeigsfjörður.
