Ingurgitating Oblivion is a German death metal band from Oldenburg , which was founded in 1997 under the name Of Trees and Orchids .

history

The band was formed in 1997 under the name Of Trees and Orchids. In the following year the line-up of the band changed a bit, so that the band consisted of the singer and guitarist Karsten Schöning, the drummer Heinz Kassens and the guitarist and singer Florian Engelke. In the same year, the first demo followed Fragments from the Flow . In 2000, Dirk Janssen joined the line-up as the new drummer. In the same year the second demo Thought Cathedral followed , after which Sascha Hermersdorf could be heard as the new bass player. With the release of the EP Cadence and Perspective in Desolation , the band changed their name to Ingurgitating Oblivion in 2002. In the same year Ulrich Kreienbrink joined the band as a new singer, before drummer Jannsen left the band six months later and was replaced by Florian Neumeyer. Henning Dinkla joined the line-up as the new bass player, whereupon bassist Hermersdorf switched to the electric guitar. Schöning also concentrated only on the vocals before he left the group, so that Kreienbrink remained the only singer in the band. In 2004 they recorded the demo Poetry of the Flesh , whereupon Florian Engelke could be heard as another guitarist. The demo was sent to over 100 labels. In 2005, the debut album Voyage Towards Abhorrence followed on the US label Unmatched Brutality Records . At this time Christian Pfeil joined the band as the new bass player. Shortly after the album was released, drummer Ingo Neugebauer joined the group as another new member. The band has existed in its current form since 2007. In 2010 the demo Enigmatic Symmetries followed. In 2010 the band signed a contract with the Indian label Diabolical Conquest Records before moving to Willowtip Records in 2012 . In 2013/2014 the ways of the band members at that time parted. After differences within the line-up, Florian Engelke remained as the sole original member of the band and has been steering the band ever since. At the beginning of 2017 Florian Engelke published Vision Wallows in Symphonies of Light and worked together with Lille Gruber ( Defeated Sanity ) on drums, Adrian Bojarowski (bass), Maren Poelman (vibraphone), Jan Ferdinand (vibraphone), Céline Voccia (piano) and Norbert Müller (electric guitar).

style

On Cadence and Perspective in Desolation , the band played, according to Gunnar Sauermann from Metal Hammer, classic death metal, which varied in speed. In addition, the use of samples can be heard about Aleister Crowley . According to Ramon Claassen of voicesfromthedarkside.com the band played on the album Voyage Towards Abhorrence aggressive death metal, and also the use of guitar solo was characteristic. Progressive elements are processed on the album Vision Wallows in Symphonies of Light , with songs of up to 20 minutes in length, some of which are very complex.
