Ingus Vizulis (* 1965 ) is a Latvian naval officer with the rank of flotilla admiral . From April 2016 to November 2019 he was the commander of the Latvian Naval Forces .

Life

Ingus Vizulis was born in Riga, is married and has four sons. In addition to Latvian, he is also fluent in English and Russian.

Military career

Ingus Vizulis graduated from the Kaliningrad Naval Academy in 1987 and served in the Soviet Pacific Fleet for the next few years . In 1993 he joined the re-established Latvian Armed Forces . Over the next few years, he held various posts in their navy and was finally appointed Chief of Staff of the Naval Forces in 2000. He then worked as a defense attaché in various countries.

In 2011 he was appointed Deputy Chief of the General Staff (responsible for support tasks). On this post, Vizulis was appointed flotilla admiral ( Latvian : flotiles admirālis) on November 11, 2013 . On April 18, 2016, he took over the post of Commander of the Latvian Navy.
