German Language Initiative

The German Language Initiative was a non-profit company that wanted to arouse interest in the German language at home and abroad.

It was founded in December 2004 by the Goethe Institute and the non-profit Hertie Foundation for a period of 5 years in Berlin.

The partners were the Heinz Nixdorf Foundation and the Donors' Association for German Science . It was under the patronage of Federal President Horst Köhler .
