The Inca terraces are stepwise in terraces built relationships that the Inca were created to be able to grow more crops and famine prevention and to provide a greater number of people with food. Corn , potatoes , quinoa , amaranth , pumpkin , tomatoes , peanuts and peppers were grown on the terraces . The irrigation was done through canals.

The first Inca ruler who ordered the construction of Inca terraces is said to have been Sinchi Roca , but it is only from Pachacútec Yupanqui (the ninth Inca) that it can be said with certainty that he had the terraces built on a larger scale.
