Innerberger barn

The Innerberger Stadel in the Upper Austrian market town of Weyer (Unterer Markt 42) is a former iron and provisions store built in 1654. Another Innerberger barn is located in Steyr (Grünmarkt 26).

History and architecture

The Innerberger Main Union built the high storage building in 1654 as an iron and provisions store. The Schönthaler furniture factory had owned the barn since 1889. On January 28, 1947, a fire devastated the upper floors including the roof structure. At that time the barn was the seat of the Mayer, Raunicher u. Co. The fire broke out on a floor rented by radio manufacturer Radione. At the end of February 1990, a storm caused severe damage to the 1,000 square meter roof. The repairs turned out to be difficult because, among other things, there were hardly any stocks of the roof tiles previously used. During the decentralized Upper Austrian provincial exhibition in 1998 , the flagship exhibition Land der Hämmer - Heimat Eisenwurzen was located in the now listed building . To this end, the state of Upper Austria rented the barn from the owners at the time, the Hofer candle factory. The building has been owned by the Peter and Herta Katzensteiner family since December 2010.

Today's baroque facade design corresponds to that of 1889.
