The Innova trading house AG (proper spelling INNOVA ) was a German electronics and kitchen specialty chain with nine stores in Berlin, seven compact stores and seven Best Buy franchise partner businesses in and around Berlin. There were an additional 28 partner companies throughout Germany. A central aspect of the Innova concept was that trading with the sellers is even encouraged.
history
Innova opened its first store in 1987 in Berlin's Riehlstrasse on Kaiserdamm. In 1990 the Innova customer club was founded, which with over 560,000 members was one of the 10 largest clubs in Europe. Club membership enabled discounts and warranty extensions . In 2011 Innova Handelshaus GmbH was transformed into Innova Handelshaus AG. Since 2014, Innova has no longer only offered individual products with the new “Innova Home” concept, but also complete home furnishings (e.g. fittings for bathroom, kitchen, office).
At the end of April 2016, Innova AG filed for bankruptcy in the form of self-administration .
On July 29, 2016 it was announced that the renovation attempt had failed. As of August 4, 2016, the bankruptcy sale was processed, the collecting society MHZ from Berlin had taken over the entire existing inventory of goods and orders.
Business lines
In addition to household appliances and electronic products, Innova also sold furniture and furnishings for home use as well as kitchens and bathrooms, which were exhibited in the larger specialist markets. Customers could have their new home furnishings planned in the kitchen and bathroom specialist stores or directly at home. Other product areas were shoes, gifts and travel in the four Innova travel agencies in Berlin.
Branches
Innova specialist stores were based in Berlin. These branches had an area of between 800 and 6000 m². In addition to kitchens, electronic items were also exhibited. The Innova Compact Shops had a shopping area of approx. 150 to 300 m²; Here the main focus was on large electrical appliances and multimedia products. Innova Bestkauf partner companies was a franchise system with a sales area of 150 to 400 m².
