Innocent of Berzo

Innocent von Berzo (born March 19, 1844 in Niardo , Italy as Giovanni Scalvinoni ; † March 3, 1890 in Bergamo ) is a blessed of the Roman Catholic Church .

Life

Innocent von Berzo attended a Capuchin school and then studied Catholic theology and philosophy in Brescia . In 1867 he received the sacrament of ordination and was appointed chaplain in Berzo. He then joined the Capuchin Order and took special care of the concerns of the sick. His way of life was characterized by humble devotion to God and a deep love for the sacrament of penance . He died on March 3, 1890 in Bergamo and was buried in the parish church of Berzo at the insistence of the population. Pope John XXIII beatified him on November 12, 1961 .
