The internal combustion engine 1 of the Inselbahn Spiekeroog was built between 1947 and 1950, in which a draisine built in 1935 by Draisinenbau Hamburg was adapted in its own workshop. The vehicle was used until 1963 and scrapped in 1972.

History and description

After the Second World War, the railcar came from the Wangerooge military railway together with the OMZ 122 diesel locomotive in order to initiate motorization of island traffic on Spiekeroog. As early as 1947, the Inselbahn wanted to put the railcar, which was originally delivered to the military railway by Draisinenbau GmbH Hamburg in 1935, into operation, but the railway supervisors were not satisfied with the quality of the work for a long time. Only in June 1950 was the license to operate. Train journeys by railcar were usually carried out in combination with up to three former horse-drawn tram cars. The railcar operated until 1963. After that, it only served as a reserve until it was scrapped in 1972.

The car had four doors on each side that led to the seating groups, there was no central aisle. For this he had a continuous side step. The engine was installed under the floor. The railcar was painted white in the window area and green below the windows.
