The Institut européen · European Institute (IE · EI) is a private, international institution that conducts research in the field of European and international studies and offers postgraduate courses.

history

It was founded in 1964 by the Center International de Formation Européenne (CIFE) and is supported by the European Union.

Education

The institute cooperates with numerous universities in Central and Eastern Europe, especially in Germany, Italy and Turkey. The programs offered take place in different countries and focus on European and international studies.

The course is characterized by an international faculty consisting of internationally teaching professors, experts and a multinational group of students with different academic careers.

The institute offers the master's degree for European and international studies in two different branches, the trilingual branch and the English-speaking branch. The training lasts one year and the degree is awarded after a successful written and oral final examination as well as the completion of a diploma thesis. The students acquire 60 ECTS credit points.

Masters in European and International Studies

Trilingual branch

The trilingual branch includes study visits to Nice and Berlin, interrupted by a one-week stay at the partner university in Rostock and a two-week stay at the partner university in Rome. An additional part of the program consists of a study trip to European and international organizations in Brussels, Strasbourg and Geneva. This master’s program is probably the only European science course that is taught in three languages (German, English, French).

Interested students should be aware that this is a French educational institution where only certain points in the framework program are held in the foreign languages German or English. The officially proclaimed trilingualism is given, as some of the lectures are held in English or German. However, the language of instruction for most of the events in Nice is French.

English speaking branch

The English-language branch includes study visits to Istanbul, Nice and Berlin and a study trip to European and international organizations in Brussels, Strasbourg and Geneva.
