Executive Master in EU Studies

The Executive Master in EU Studies (formerly Master in EU Studies Online) conveys teaching content about the European Union and is aimed primarily at working students. Participants have the option of completing a one-year course (Certificate in EU Studies Online) with 30 ECTS or a two-year course (Master in EU Studies Online) with 60 ECTS. The Master in EU Studies Online imparts knowledge for central tasks in administration and science and offers participants the opportunity to specialize in European politics, European law or economics in a European context. The courses are taught on a specially designed platform and supplemented by face-to-face phases in various major European cities, in which examinations and lectures are also held.

Masters in European and International Studies

In 1964, the CIFE founded the Institut Européen des Hautes Études Internationales (IEHEI), today known as Institut européen / European Institute. Together they offer the Masters in European and International Studies (MAEIS) in a trilingual branch and an English-language branch. This offer is supplemented by another master’s course called EUROMED, which aims to deal with political issues in the EU and the Middle East. The training lasts one year and the master’s title is awarded after a written and oral final examination and the completion of a master’s thesis. The students acquire 60 ECTS points.

Trilingual branch

The trilingual branch of the Master in Advanced European and International Studies was founded in the 1960s. Languages are German, English and French. The program takes place in Nice (seven months) and in Berlin (two months). The teaching is divided into the modules international relations, European unification, economy and globalization as well as federalism and governance. The third part of the program begins with a study trip to European and international institutions. In Nice, when it comes to conveying the learning content, France's perspective with regard to the EU is predominant, taking into account the other Mediterranean countries of the EU and the states of the Maghreb . In addition to the challenges of Central and Eastern Europe, the process of EU enlargement will also be dealt with in Berlin. With this approach, the trilingual branch aims to deepen the students' insight into German-French relations .

English speaking branch

The English-language branch began in October 2005. The program includes study visits to Berlin, Istanbul and Nice, which are supplemented by a study excursion to European and international organizations. In Istanbul, Turkey’s Europeanization process is a central theme, as is the EU’s relations with the Caucasus states, Central Asia and the Middle East.

EUROMED

The working languages are English and French; the study locations include Nice, Tunis and Istanbul. The one-year master’s program is divided into three trimesters and begins annually in Nice with a focus on Conflict Management and Peace Making, Sustainable Development and Climate Action, Regional Integration and Transformation and Mediterranean Politics and Societies. The second trimester is held in Tunis, followed by Istanbul, where the master's program ends with the writing of the master's thesis.
