The European Union and Central Asia in the International System (EUCAIS) is an online master’s program of the Institute for European Politics (IEP) and the Center International de Formation Européenne (CIFE).

The course receives significant financial support from the Volkswagen Foundation and the Jean Monnet Program for Lifelong Learning of the European Commission.

The postgraduate course is available to university graduates and young professionals from Central Asia ( Uzbekistan , Turkmenistan , Tajikistan , Kyrgyzstan , Kazakhstan , Afghanistan and the Chinese Xinjiang ).

Goal setting

The course enables the participants to acquire and deepen knowledge about the integration process of the EU as well as to understand current developments in the relations of the EU to Central Asia as well as to grasp the respective situation of both regions in the international economic and political system. Completion of the program qualifies, for example, for careers at Central Asian universities, in international organizations, foundations and development agencies in Central Asia; the further development of skills for scientific work and writing; Access to a renowned European network and academic exchange programs between the EU and Central Asia; Building networks between the academic participants of the Online Academy in Central Asia.

methodology

The course is a combination of e-learning , presence phases in Berlin and Brussels and visits to EU institutions. The course material is provided in online courses and deepened in workshops. The participants are expected to familiarize themselves with the content of the online courses through self-study. The progress of your studies is recorded in online discussions, assignments and exams during the attendance phase in Germany. Direct lessons complement the virtual activities. This takes place in Berlin (4 workshops) and Brussels. It gives the students the opportunity to meet the professors for academic debates and intercultural dialogue. When visiting the international institutions in Brussels, meetings with EU officials and decision-makers take place.
