Institute for Leisure Analysis
The Institut für Freizeitanalysen GmbH (IFF) is a German company based in Bochum that records and standardizes touristic offers and offer features across all tour operators and makes them available for consulting and sales solutions in tourism .
The company is a subsidiary of TravelTainment GmbH based in Würselen , Germany's largest provider of IBE software. The company offers the sales- supporting applications for travel agencies "Bistro", "BistroStar" and "BistroPortal". With around 8,000 users, “Bistro” is the market leader in Germany and Austria.
IFF codes
The "IFF-Export" interface offered by TravelTainment / IFF enables numerous customers to use a comprehensive tourism database (known within the industry as "IFF data") for their own systems by means of overarching key numbers ("IFF keys" or "IFF codes") (e.g. travel portals with an optional connection to the Amadeus / TravelTainment IBE). The IFF codes are now widely used in the tourism industry to clearly identify tourism resources (such as hotels). They play a role similar to that of ISBN in the publishing industry. Unlike the latter, there is currently no standardization or regulation by a standardization organization for IFF codes in particular, or for the identification of tourism resources in general .
