The Institute for Visual Profiling emerged from the studio for structural analysis (1994) of the artist Richard Schindler and was founded on January 1st, 2000 as an independent institution. The institute is based in Villa Mitscherlich in Freiburg-Wiehre .

tasks

The institute works in research and development of visual resources, publishes the results and makes them available to companies and institutions in its range of services. For this purpose, an analytical tool was developed that Richard Schindler calls visual profiling. The institute prepares expert reports (landscape and townscape analyzes) and offers institutions (kindergartens, schools, etc.) and companies visual analysis and conceptual support to optimize their visual appearance.

The Institute for Visual Profiling has also set itself the task of establishing “visual profiling” as a central analytical instrument of image science and as a profession in cooperation with state art academies and universities . With all the implications of professionalization: the possibilities of certification and accreditation, the setting of competence standards, ethical standards and the regulations of teaching and method. To this end, the institute cooperates with scientists, companies and management consultants.

Richard Schindler is in charge . The advisory board consists of Ulrich Oevermann , Alfons Bora and Stephan Berg , the director of the Bonn Art Museum . In addition, there are case-based collaborations with external experts such as Andreas Wernet from the University of Hanover and the sociologists Thomas Dresel and Peter Oberndorfer.
