Richard Schindler became known to a wider audience through the book publication of his artistic expert report in a legal dispute between an operating company of wind turbines in the Black Forest and the city of Freiburg over the construction of wind turbines on the Holzschlägermatte on the Schauinsland . The report is the first of its kind: It is the demonstration of a qualitative artistic analysis process using the example of two industrial plants in a landscape worthy of protection.

Therefore it is also of interest to lawyers (current legal situation with regard to landscape protection and maintenance), landscape planners, architects and sociologists. Schindler demonstrates that and how contemporary artistic activity can contribute to current social problems.

The difference between the artistic approach and previous methods of landscape image analysis and landscape image assessment becomes clear. Since this is an exemplary application, differences to other methods of image analysis - which are not concerned with landscape aesthetics - are clearly evident.

The report published under the title Understanding Landscape was received critically. B. by Hans-Dieter Fronz in the FAZ of January 29, 2007: “As a result, the technical systems not only do not impair the appearance of the landscape, they enrich it. But isn't that the point at which one becomes suspicious and threatens to overturn the whole argument? Do you want to gloss over ugly practice with hard work theory? "

“Artists are not only creative producers, but also highly qualified recipients. At the same time, this perceptual competence is neither recognized by artists themselves nor by companies as an independent qualification and used economically in their sense. Cooperation between art & economy is limited to sponsoring, entrepreneurial collecting or the more or less successful furnishing of rooms with art.

In contrast, I make my artistic perception available to companies. Visual profiling means an expansion of traditional artistic fields of activity. It supports companies in the development of their visual resources (Visual Resources Development) and provides information on unspoken messages in corporate communication - whether internally or externally.

Visual profiling accelerates the self-perception of companies. The gain is self-transparency: a necessary prerequisite for further optimization.

Visual profiling serves artists as a preparatory analysis of their interventions in public space (art in architecture). "
