Institute for Applied Material Flow Management

The Institute for Applied Material Flow Management ( IfaS ) is an in-institute of the Trier University of Applied Sciences founded in 2001 at the Birkenfeld Environment Campus in Neubrücke . It has set itself the goal of implementing the theory of material flow management in practical projects to optimize regional and operational material flows. Since it was founded, the IfaS has grown to more than 50 employees and roughly the same number of student assistants. Projects are carried out primarily in Germany but also across Europe as well as in Asia , South America and Africa .

Focus of work

Based on the idea of ​​material flow management and against the background of the need for sustainable development , IfaS works primarily on the topics of Zero Emission Village (ZEV), regional material flow management (linked to the area of regional value creation ), material flow management in waste management and corporate competence networks .

courses

In addition to project work, the focus is on two master's programs (IMAT master’s courses) in the field of material flow management. Both Masters are taught in English; one of the two programs is a dual Masters, which is offered in cooperation with the Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University in Beppu ( Japan ).

With employees from the People's Republic of China, Turkey, Colombia, Poland, Russia and Germany, the IfaS is international. With the institute director Prof. Dr. Including Peter Heck, a total of 9 professors from different areas, as well as employees from the fields of engineering , business administration , business law , forestry , agricultural sciences , biology and cultural studies cover the academic spectrum.
