Integrin α-L (synonym CD11a) is a surface protein .
properties
CD11a is a cell adhesion molecule and is produced in leukocytes . CD11a is glycosylated , phosphorylated and has disulfide bridges . It forms a heterodimer with integrin β-2 . It binds as a heterodimeric integrin alpha-L / beta-2 to ICAM1 , ICAM2 , ICAM3 and ICAM4 . It also binds F11R . It is involved in cell adhesion and leukodiapedesis of leukocytes. CD11a activates phagocytosis in macrophages. It binds calcium ions and is glycosylated , phosphorylated and has disulfide bridges. Efalizumab binds to CD11a.
