Cell adhesion

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Under cell adhesion understands cell biology , the contacts between cells with an extracellular matrix . These can be present in a tissue or in an aggregation association that occurs through active migration of individual cells or through passive collision and sticking together of cells and cell clumps in suspension cultures .

In addition to substrates, cells also adhere to biofilms . Molecules that make cell adhesion possible are called cell adhesion molecules . Cell adhesion can be demonstrated using a cell adhesion test.
