Tetraspanin-29 (synonymous CD9 ) is a surface protein from the group of tetraspanins .
properties
CD9 is produced by various blood cells and epithelial cells . It is involved in platelet activation , cell adhesion, and metastasis . CD9 is necessary for the fusion of sperm and egg . It is glycosylated , palmitoylated and has disulfide bridges .
