Intelligent satellite data information system

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Intelligent Satellite Data Information System ( ISIS ) was a database and at the same time an international information hub of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) .

overview

ISIS was developed by the German Remote Sensing Data Center (DFD) of the former German Aerospace Research Institute (DLR) together with the Federal Ministry for Education, Science, Research and Technology .

As a central data source, it enabled interested users to access DFD data from 1993 onwards and operationally provides product descriptions, metadata and archive information as well as tools for visualization, online transfer and ordering data products as a client / server configuration.

The system was available to all interested parties internationally in 24-hour online operation, with free access and without the need for registration. The ISIS server was controlled by client software to be installed accordingly.

Databases

The following databases were available via ISIS:

  • DLR EOWEB
The Earth Observation on the WEB user interface provides access to the earth observation data available at DFD. It enables data searches, image previews, data ordering and online retrieval of data.
  • WDC-RSAT
World Data Center for Remote Sensing of the Atmosphere (WDC-RSAT). The WDC-RSAT provided access to raw data and processed data from a large number of atmospheric sensors.
  • ATMOS User Center (AUC)
The AUC was the predecessor of the WDC-RSAT and passed into it.
  • DLR EOWEB Interactive Data Service
This interactive data service made it possible to call up high-resolution satellite data that meet geotemporal criteria, e.g. B. for a time series analysis or the visualization of time series.
  • EOS Data Gateway
The Earth Observing System Data Gateway enabled access to globally available data sets. Data from various connected archives could be ordered via this portal.
