The Intercambiador de Transportes de Santa Cruz de Tenerife consists of a bus station , the terminus of the tram and a car park with 1416 spaces. The task of the building erected in 2006 on the site of the old Estación de Guaguas (bus station) is to make it easier for passengers to switch between different modes of transport. It is opposite the Corte Inglés department store and Rascaciellos, between Avenida Tres de Mayo, Calle Fomento and Calle Victor Zurita Soler.
The building has six floors of which the third to the east and the sixth to the west are at ground level. On level −2 there are parking spaces and storage rooms, on level −1 there is a water and fuel store next to the parking space. On level 0 is the entrance hall with shops and service facilities for travelers. Outside the building there is the final stop of the tram to La Laguna on this level as well as some bus stops for shuttle buses e.g. B. to the ferries. In addition to the parking area, there are offices on level 1. Level 2 is the terminus for a large number of buses that run locally in Santa Cruz. The final stops of the intercity buses to the south and north of the island are on level 3.
A special feature of this traffic junction is the inexpensive option of park and ride, whereby the parking fees are offset against the bus or tram fees. As well as the coordinated transfer options between the intercity bus routes in the north and south, the local bus routes and the tram.
