The Inter-Faculty Library for History and Theology (Freiburg im Üechtland ) is a public documentation and information center of the University of Freiburg (Switzerland) . In French it is called Bibliothèque interfacultaire d'histoire et théologie ; its abbreviation BHT is also used in German.

Location and offer

The library is located in the main building of the university in wing MIS 04.

The reading room with over 100 reading places holds an open access inventory of more than 100,000 documents - including reference works, sources, manuals, monographs, journals (in printed or electronic form) and electronic media (e-books, CD-ROMs, DVDs) . The reading room is open seven days a week, and loans are open Monday to Friday. From the reading room you can see the city of Freiburg and the Freiburg Pre-Alps .

In addition to the holdings of history and theology, the holdings of religious studies and the holdings of the Library for Canon Law are also part of the library.

The entire BHT holdings have been retro-cataloged since 2011 , and all holdings are listed in the Rero catalog .

Seven specialists (345 percent) and nine students work in the library (as of 2015).

The library was created in 1977 from the merger of over 20 seminar libraries from the Theological Faculty and the historical part of the Philosophical Faculty. The BHT is scientifically and administratively subordinate to the university and is integrated into the organizational chart of the theological and philosophical faculties. It is also part of the cantonal and university library (KUB).
