Music style and lyrics

Wolf-Rüdiger Mühlmann from Rock Hard described Satyricon's approach on the EP as “uncompromising, coarse and unpolished”, without the bombast of earlier releases and more closely related to her roots in raw Black Metal : “ Razor-sharp , sawing riffs , blastbeat- drumming ('Inri '- a cover version of Sarcofargo [sic!]) and bloodcurdling screeching ”as well as“ dirty rock'n'roll elements ”in A Moment of Clarity . Blessed from Below (Melancholy / Oppression / Longing) , which mixes black metal influences with electronic music, he compared to Thorns .

reception

According to Mühlmann, Satyr and Frost “after their two-year hiatus prove to be credible musicians far from the consensus-wishy-washy hype. I would never have thought that the Norwegians would revert to their roots so radically. ”He described Blessed from Below (Melancholy / Oppression / Longing) as“ a thoroughly successful experiment, with which die-hard black salsify fans will have their problems ”. Adam Wasylyk of Chronicles of Chaos praised Satyricon's version of INRI and recommended buying the EP if the price was good.
