International Guild of Knot Tyers , German: International guild of knot makers, unites people who are interested in knots and knotting. There are around 1000 members worldwide. The members' magazine "Knotting Matters" is published quarterly.

The aim of the organization is, among other things, to provide support in researching knots, improving safety when using knots, developing and improving knotting techniques and disseminating knowledge about knots.

The guild was founded on April 17th, 1982 by 27 enthusiasts in London . The occasion was an article on the front page of the Times , which asked whether a certain knot (the Hunter knot ) was really reinvented or was already known. The founding members discussed this knot and concluded that it was indeed new.

Members of the guild helped review and correct the 1991 reprint of The Ashley Book of Knots .
