The International Hockey League ( Russian Межнациональная хоккейная лига / Meschnazionalnaja Chokkejnaja Liga; often also International Hockey League, IHL or MHL for short) was the highest division in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in ice hockey between 1992 and 1996 .
history
For the 1992/93 season, the International Hockey League replaced the CIS ice hockey championship, which had replaced the USSR ice hockey championship a year earlier . After the fourth season in 1995/96, the league was stopped. The IHL was replaced by the Super League , which was replaced after twelve years in the summer of 2008 by the Continental Hockey League .
In the four years of the league's existence, the capital club HK Dynamo Moscow and HK Lada Tolyatti, which was actually unsuccessful in the times of the Soviet Union, completely shared the four championships and two cup wins among themselves.
