International Magicians Society

The International Magicians Society (IMS) is the world's largest association of magicians with 41,000 members and was thus included in the Guinness Book of Records . The association is based in New York City .

It was founded in July 1968 by Tony Hassini with the aim of giving magicians an association for the realization of their goals and exchange with other colleagues and to promote and maintain the art of magic.

The association awarded Siegfried & Roy the title Magician of the Century in 2000 and considers David Copperfield , Doug Henning , Criss Angel and David Blaine to be "the most influential magicians of the past 25 years". In addition, the organization awards the Merlin Award several times a year to members with a particularly high level of talent, skills, good performance and ingenuity. Most important, however, is "the rare gift of entertaining in good and bad circumstances."

German winners of the Merlin Awards are Jan Rouven , Peter Valance and Siegfried & Roy , internationally well-known artists such as Criss Angel , David Copperfield , Cosentino, Doug Henning , André Kole , Peter Marvey , Channing Pollock and Penn & Teller have received awards.
