The International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center ( CIMMYT ; Spanish for Centro Internacional de Mejoramiento de Maíz y Trigo ) is an international research institution that promotes maize and wheat cultivation through the development of improved seeds and improved cultivation practices. CIMMYT is one of the 15 institutes of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research .

CIMMYT has been cooperating with the University of Hohenheim for decades . The plant breeders F. Wolfgang Schnell and Wolfgang Gerhard Pollmer received an award from CIMMYT.
