The International Peace Research Society , founded in 1964 as a non-profit organization , is available to peace researchers and educators around the world as an international hub for the exchange of scientific research results. As a member of the International Science Council, IPRA is the global authority in this field. The basis of IPRA is research into the causes of war and other forms of violence. It gives recommendations to create and maintain conditions for peace conditions. To this end, IPRA is committed to promoting national and international studies and teaching for the pursuit of world peace, facilitating global contacts and coordination between scientists and educators, and promoting the worldwide dissemination of research results through scientific publications and information on peace research. She works closely with organizations whose goals overlap with her own projects. It also organizes the international symposia that take place every two years. It has set itself the task of supporting the editing and publication of scientific journals, book series and reports on peace research, as well as the communiqués of scientific studies from IPRA conferences with the stipulation of high academic standards to attract the attention of scientists and practitioners to new aspects of peace research and education.

The IPRA is also the umbrella organization of five continental-regional peace research institutes, such as AFPRA for Africa, ASIA PACIFIC, CLAIP for Latin America, EUPRA for Europe and PJSA for North America.
