The International Commission of Detective Associations ( IKD ) (English IKD - International Federation of Associations of Private Detectives ) was founded in 1964 by the detective associations of the Austrian Detective Association (ÖDV), the Association of Swiss Private Detectives (FSPD) and the Federal Association of German Detectives e . V. (BDD) was founded in Vienna and registered in the association office on November 10, 1967. Members

IKD is an umbrella organization , membership is reserved for associations. Individual companies from countries in which no interest group is registered can also be accepted as members .

The IKD has 18 regional associations and 3 individual members, most of them from the European Union / EFTA / EEA , as well as an international association (as of 12/2012). In 2008 the IKD was recognized by the EU as a representative professional body.

tasks

For a long time, the goals of the IKD were shaped by the principles of exchange of experience and networking ; Due to the change in political, legal and social framework conditions for the practice of the profession of detective, a united appearance as professional representative was sought, which among other things by the uniform resolution and the signing of a common minimum standard for the professional access and the professional practice (IKD Common Minimum Standards, Zaragoza , 2007) is documented by the delegates of all member associations, a common model data protection policy or best practice guides.

The executive committee of the IKD, which is elected for three years, is the executive body. It consists of the Secretary General, Tony Imossi (since 2004), the Vice Secretary General and the Treasurer.

As a further permanent body, the Grievance Committee forms a European and also an international complaints committee.

The association also implements its tasks through topic-related committees for which a chairman is elected by the members, e.g. B .:

  • the CSC (Common Standard of Competence) Committee for the introduction of a common standard in professional qualifications;
  • the EPIC (European Private Investigators' Compendium) Committee for the recording of country-specific conditions and possibilities for the work of detectives.
