International Association for Legal and Social Philosophy, German Section

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The German section of the International Association for Legal and Social Philosophy (IVR) is a scientific association in the field of legal and social philosophy . She is one of 41 national sections of the popular all over the world International Association of Law and Social Philosophy (International Association for the Philosophy of Law and Social Philosophy). The German section currently has almost four hundred members who are also members of the World IVR.

Closely associated with the German section of the IVR, but independent and not limited to members from Germany, is the young talent initiative Young Forum Legal Philosophy (JFR), which was launched in the early 1990s.

task

The German section of the IVR is a registered non-profit association for the promotion of science. According to its statutes, the purpose of the association is to "maintain and promote science and research in the field of legal and social philosophy on a national and international level", whereby the association is open to "any scientific direction". To fulfill this purpose, the German section holds scientific conferences every two years.

history

The history of the German section of the IVR begins with the division of the IVR into different national sections decided at the 2nd World Congress of the IVR in Vienna in 1959. The first congress of the German section of the IVR took place in Frankfurt am Main in 1961.

In 1990 the sections of the FRG and GDR merged to form an all-German section.

Board

The board of directors of the association consists of the first chairman (president), the second chairman as deputy (vice-president) and at least 6 and at most 10 additional members. The board is elected every four years by the members. The first and second chairmen are legal representatives of the association.

Current board 2016-18

The current board consists of the following people:

President (First Chairman) : Stephan Kirste (Salzburg)

Vice President (Second Chair), also Treasurer : Marietta Auer (Gießen)

Other members (assessors) : Robert Alexy , Kiel; Carsten Bäcker, Kiel; Martin Borowski, Heidelberg; Jochen Bung, Hamburg; Armin Engländer, Munich; Andreas Funke, Erlangen-Nuremberg; Rolf Gröschner, Jena; Klaus Günther, Frankfurt / Main; Ulfrid Neumann, Frankfurt / Main; Friederike Wapler, Mainz.

Subsections

The German section has two subsections: the working group History of Ideas and the Jena regional section.

The Working Group on the History of Ideas in Legal Philosophy was founded in 1998 by members of the German section as a “relaxed working context” and pursues the goal “to contribute to the differentiation of current legal-dogmatic and legal-theoretical debates and to place them on a philosophical-historical foundation”. The conferences, which are held every two years, are usually designed as working conferences and focus on studying basic texts "close to the source".

The Jena regional section of the IVR was founded at the beginning of 1994 as an informal discussion group of legal theorists and legal practitioners working in Thuringia.
