Merklinger Ried is a nature reserve with the number 1.103 designated by ordinance of the Stuttgart regional council of July 2, 1982 .

location

The nature reserve is located in the Obere Gäue natural area and lies in the Würm floodplain about 500 meters south-east of Merklingen . The Merklinger Ried is part of the FFH area No. 7319-341 Gäulandschaft an der Würm and is almost completely surrounded by the landscape protection area No. 1.15.027 Heckengäu-Weil der Stadt .

Protection purpose

According to the ordinance, the protection purpose is the preservation of a natural reed, the averting of disturbances and impairments of a rare habitat for wild plants and animals, in particular for numerous bird species, as well as the long-term renaturation of impaired parts of the reed.

Flora and fauna

As floristic feature is the in Baden-Wuerttemberg as classified orchid "endangered" Marsh Helleborine to name. The occurrence of numerous bird species should be emphasized: reed warbler , reed warbler , reed warbler , field owl , blackcap , chiffchaff , spotted mullet and common snipe .
