Upper Hölzertal is a nature reserve with the number 1.167 designated by ordinance of the Stuttgart regional council of September 4, 1990 .

location

The nature reserve is located in the Schönbuch and Glemswald natural area and is around 1500 meters east of Magstadt in the Rankbach valley . The protected area is part of the FFH area no. 7220-311 Glemswald and Stuttgarter Bucht and is completely surrounded by the protected landscape area no. 1.15.089 Glemswald . The nature reserve and the Hölzersee form a biotope network .

Protection purpose

According to the regulation, the protective purpose is

  • the preservation of the scenic Upper Wood Valley with its reeds and sedges, tall herbaceous fields, wet meadows and woody plants as a valuable habitat for a diverse flora and fauna;
  • the preservation and securing of a valuable space for restrained, quiet and gentle local recreation.

Flora and fauna

The plant species globe flower , devil bite and whistle grass thrive in the wetlands of the Upper Wood Valley . The endangered butterfly species big fox and small blue butterfly fly in the area .
