The nature reserve (NSG) Venusberg - Wolfsäcker - Besental / Halde , or just Venusberg for short , is located in the district of Böblingen in Baden-Württemberg in Germany .

location

The protected area comprises six closely connected partial areas, which are located in the Aidlinger municipality, between the main town itself and the district of Lehenweiler . With 115 hectares, the largest nature reserve in the Böblingen district is made up of differently shaped areas: heather , forest and meadows , bushes , hedges and stone bars as well as succession areas . It is located in the Natural Environment 122- Upper Gäue and is almost completely surrounded by conservation area Aidlingen flying the number 1.15.091. It is also part of the FFH area No. 7319-341 Gäulandschaft on the Würm .

Protection purpose

The purpose of protection is to maintain and secure a richly structured landscape of closely interconnected heather, forest and meadow areas, bushes, hedges, stone bars and valuable areas of natural vegetation development (succession) as a habitat for a diverse flora and fauna and as a quiet recreational area.

From mid-1944 a VHF rotary radio beacon FuSAn 724/725, code name "Bernhard" , was built on the Venusberg . When the Allied forces approached it was blown up in April 1945. The remains of the foundation of the antenna system and two crew barracks are still visible.
