Würmaue am Heuberg is a nature reserve designated by the Stuttgart Regional Council of December 19, 1989 with the number 1.164.
location
The nature reserve is located in the Obere Gäue natural area and lies in the Würm floodplain between Merklingen and Hausen an der Würm . The nature reserve is completely surrounded by the landscape protection area No. 1.15.027 Heckengäu-Weil der Stadt .
Protection purpose
According to the regulation, the protective purpose is
- the preservation of a valuable, diverse and characteristic cultural landscape as a meadow meadow, which is interspersed in a harmonious way with natural landscape elements;
- the safeguarding and maintenance of species-rich meadows in different locations;
- the preservation of the scenic and ecological diversity of cultivated and non-cultivated grassland areas;
- the preservation of the natural dynamics of the Würm and its reed-lined old course.
Flora and fauna
The long-haired lady's mantle, which is very rare in Baden-Württemberg, is a botanical specialty . In the abandoned meadows, endangered species of butterflies can be found, such as the lesser schiller butterfly , the blue-black kingfisher and the swallowtail . The tall herbaceous corridors provide a habitat for the rare ground beetle species, swamp crusaders and cabbage thistle camels . Reed bunting and pond warbler find breeding opportunities in the reed beds .
