Heckengäu-Weil der Stadt is a protected landscape area (protected area number 1.15.027) in the Boeblingen district .

Location and description

The protected area was created by ordinance of the Boeblingen District Office of June 20, 1986. With the entry into force of this ordinance, the ordinances of the Leonberg District Office of January 10, 1968 Landscape Protection Areas Kuppelzen and Wolfsgrube as well as November 14, 1968 with the name Nördlich Merklingen ceased to apply inter alia for the area of ​​the city because the city had already been designated a landscape protection area.

There are 14 sub-areas around Weil der Stadt and its districts Merklingen , Münklingen and Hausen . The area belongs to the natural area 122- Obere Gäue within the natural spatial main unit 12- Neckar- and Tauber-Gäuplatten . The FFH area Gäulandschaft an der Würm overlaps with the landscape protection area in some areas.

Protection purpose

The main protection purpose is the preservation of the typical and charming pre-Black Forest landscape in its special peculiarity with partly very valuable plant locations, orchards and the landscape-defining, with deciduous wood and forks, the dome of the dome as a recreation area.

This includes both the preservation of the near-natural, partly reed-covered Würmtalaue with stream-accompanying wood as a meadow landscape as well as the securing of the landscape-significant, the valley-accompanying slopes with orchards and the culturally and historically significant land moat with its characteristic peculiarity as well as the preservation of the typical hedge- gau landscape with stone bars, Hedges, woods, forests, orchards and the characteristic meadow valleys as a recreational area. A further urban sprawl in this landscape should be prevented.
