With the entry into force of this ordinance, the ordinance of the District Office Böblingen of October 10, 1974 on landscape protection areas Ratberg and surroundings for the districts of Dätzingen and Döffingen expired.

There are four sub-areas around the Grafenau suburbs Dätzingen and Döffingen . The area belongs to the natural area 122- Obere Gäue within the natural spatial main unit 12- Neckar- and Tauber-Gäuplatten . The nature reserve No. 1182 Hacksberg and Steckental borders the LSG to the north.

Protection purpose

According to the Protected Area Ordinance, the main protection purpose is the preservation and safeguarding of the original character of a diverse cultural landscape in its function for the natural balance, as a habitat for the native flora and fauna, in particular as their genetic reservoir and as a larger, coherent recreational area. The conservation area should be protected from disruptive and impairing changes, in particular from further urban sprawl. The aim is to preserve the orchards, grassland areas and the typical hedge-gau landscape with stone bars, hedges, field trees and grasslands with valuable vegetation.
