Böblingen is a protected landscape area (protected area number 1.15.092) in the district of Böblingen .
Location and description
The protected area was created by ordinance of the Böblingen District Office of September 2, 1999. With the entry into force of this ordinance, the Böblingen District Office's ordinance with the name "Ratberg und Umgebung" dated October 10, 1974, with that for the area of the city of Böblingen with the districts Böblingen and Dagersheim a landscape protection area had already been established, no longer in force. There are six parts of the area south and west of Böblingen. The area belongs to the natural areas 104- Schönbuch and Glemswald and 122- Obere Gäue within the natural spatial main units 10- Swabian Keuper-Lias-Land and 12- Neckar- and Tauber-Gäuplatten . The FFH area Glemswald and Stuttgarter Bucht partially overlaps with the LSG.
Protection purpose
The main protection purpose is the preservation, safeguarding and restoration of the diversity, uniqueness and beauty of the cultural landscape in its function for the natural balance, as a habitat for the native flora and fauna and as a recreational area. The landscape protection area is to be protected from disruptive and impairing changes and to allow ecological development opportunities.
In particular, it is intended to ensure that the landscape-appealing and ecologically valuable wet meadows, sedge ridge and brook meadows with woody trees accompanying the stream as well as the ecologically very valuable orchards are kept open. Further urban sprawl should be prevented.
