The FFH area Glemswald and Stuttgarter Bucht (protected area identifier DE-7220-311) was created in 2015 by merging the two existing FFH areas Glemswald and Stuttgarter Bucht in the German state of Baden-Württemberg . These former areas were already registered in 2005 by the Stuttgart Regional Council according to Directive 92/43 / EEC (Fauna-Flora-Habitat Directive) . With the ordinance of the regional council of Stuttgart on the definition of areas of community importance of October 30, 2018, the area was determined.

The 3813.24 hectare FFH area belongs to the natural areas 104- Schönbuch and Glemswald , 105- Stuttgarter Bucht , 106- Filder , 122- Obere Gäue and 123- Neckar basin within the natural spatial units 10- Swabian Keuper-Lias-Land and 12 - Neckar and Tauber-Gäuplatten . It lies between Korntal-Münchingen in the north and Weil im Schönbuch in the south and extends over the markings of 12 cities and municipalities.

Description and purpose of protection

These are large, contiguous forest areas in the southwest of Stuttgart, historical park and hut forests with a unique density of old trees and meadow valleys with natural flowing waters.
