The FFH area Schurwald is a protected area (protected area identifier DE-7222-341) in the German state of Baden-Württemberg that was registered in 2005 by the Stuttgart regional council in accordance with Directive 92/43 / EEC (Fauna-Flora-Habitat Directive) . With the ordinance of the regional council of Stuttgart on the definition of areas of community importance of October 30, 2018, the protected area was established.

The 3033.3 hectare protected area belongs to the natural areas 106 - Filder and 107 - Schurwald and Welzheimer Wald within the natural spatial main unit 10 - Swabian Keuper-Lias-Land . Its sub-areas, distributed over the southern Schurwald , extend over the markings of eleven cities and communities in the districts of Esslingen, Göppingen and Rems-Murr-Kreis:

Description, protection purpose

There are 17 sub-areas of different sizes with closed forest areas traversed by blades on slopes in the catchment area of ​​the Steigbachtal, Konbachtal and Schlierbachtal in the southern Schurwald between Rems and Filstal.

Contiguous protected areas

Several landscape protection areas are wholly or partially congruent with the FFH area. The bird sanctuary for orchards and vineyards between Geradstetten, Rudersberg and Waldhausen touches the FFH area at two points near Schorndorf.
