The Filsalb FFH area is a protected area (protected area identifier DE-7423-342) in the German state of Baden-Württemberg that was registered in 2005 by the Stuttgart Regional Council in accordance with Directive 92/43 / EEC (Fauna-Flora-Habitat Directive) . With the ordinance of the regional council of Stuttgart on the definition of areas of community importance of October 30, 2018, the area was determined.

The 5495.72 hectare FFH area belongs to the natural areas 094- Mittlere Kuppenalb , 096- Albuch and Härtsfeld and 101- Mittleres Albvorland within the natural spatial main units 09 Swabian Alb and 10- Swabian Keuper-Lias-Land . It is located southwest of Süßen, Kuchen and Geislingen on the markings of eleven cities and municipalities:
- Bad Ditzenbach : 604.5288 ha = 11%
- Bad Überkingen : 1044.1862 ha = 19%
- Deggingen : 769.4003 ha = 14%
- Geislingen an der Steige : 549.5716 ha = 10%
- Went to the Fils : 109.9143 ha = 2%
- Gruibingen : 824.3575 ha = 15%
- Cake : 274.7858 ha = 5%
- Mühlhausen im Täle : 109.9143 ha = 2%
- Schlat : 164.8715 ha = 3%
- Süßen : 439.6573 ha = 8%
- Wiesensteig : 549.5716 ha = 10%
Description and purpose of protection
These are richly structured slopes and plateaus of the Swabian Alb with juniper heaths, species-rich meadows and natural deciduous forests in the upper Filstal from Filsursprung to Geislingen. In addition, around the Fils tributaries in this area as natural flowing waters with their source areas. There are 77 caves in the area.

Contiguous protected areas
The FFH area consists of numerous sub-areas. It intersects with several landscape protection areas . Large parts of the area are located in the bird sanctuary 7422-441 - Middle Swabian Alb .
