The FFH area Eybtal near Geislingen is a protected area (protected area identifier DE-7324-341) in the German state of Baden-Württemberg that was registered in 2005 by the Stuttgart regional council in accordance with Directive 92/43 / EEC (Fauna-Flora-Habitat Directive). With the ordinance of the regional council of Stuttgart on the definition of areas of community importance of October 30, 2018, the area was determined.

The 1835.7 hectare protected area belongs to the natural areas 094- Middle Kuppenalb and 096- Albuch and Härtsfeld within the natural spatial main unit 09- Swabian Alb .

The FFH area is located east of Geislingen an der Steige on the markings of four cities and municipalities:

Description and purpose of protection

It is the deeply cut valley of the Eyb with ravine-like side valleys and adjoining plateaus with lime beech forests as well as slopes with beech forests and lime grasslands. There are 65 caves in the area, including the Mordloch, the third longest karst cave in the Swabian Alb.

Contiguous protected areas

The FFH area is contiguous, it does not touch any landscape protection areas . Large parts are in the bird sanctuary 7422-441 Middle Swabian Alb . In the area lies the nature reserve No. 1212 Eybtal with parts of the Längen- and Rohrachtal valley .
