The nature reserve Rufsteinhangs and the surrounding area is located in the area of the communities Gruibingen and Mühlhausen im Täle in the district of Göppingen in Baden-Württemberg .
The area extends north, east and south-east of the core town of Gruibingen. The A 8 runs along the western edge and the L 1217 state road to the northwest . The Fils flows to the south .
meaning
The 247.3 hectare area has been registered under NSG no. 1,261 designated as a nature reserve. It is a "varied, charming and typical for the Swabian Alb landscape section. According to the Habitats Directive, the following habitats occur in the protected area : Juniper heaths , limestone grasslands , lean lowland hay meadows / mountain hay meadows and orchid beech forests. In the south of the nature reserve the butterfly species "Spanish flag" ( Callimorpha quadripunctaria ) occurs. "
