The Galgenberg nature reserve is located in the area of the municipalities of Bad Ditzenbach and Deggingen in Baden-Württemberg .
There are two other nature reserves with the same name in Baden-Württemberg, Galgenberg (SGB-No .: 4.217) in the Alb-Donau district and Galgenberg (SGB-No .: 3.203) in the Tuttlingen district.
Characteristics
The area was designated as a nature reserve under the protection area number 1241 by ordinance of the Stuttgart regional council of November 14, 2000. The CDDA code is 318420 and corresponds to the WDPA ID .
location
The reserve is located north of Bad Ditzenbach on the southernmost part of the Hochalb ridge of the Galgenberg . Its west side borders the Bad Ditzenbach landscape protection area and is also part of the Filsalb FFH area and the Middle Swabian Alb bird protection area . The protected area is located in the natural area 094- Middle Kuppenalb within the natural spatial main unit 09- Swabian Alb .
Protection purpose
According to the Protected Area Ordinance, the main protection purpose is the preservation and promotion of a typical section of the Alb landscape, consisting of a mosaic
- from juniper heaths with part of their borders and stages of succession ,
- from rock sites with the associated steppe heather elements,
- from near-natural forest communities, partly in their culture-related expression,
- from forest fringes, field trees and hedges as well as from extensively used farm meadows and pastures
as a habitat of an extremely diverse flora and fauna with numerous protected and endangered species for scientific, ecological and regional-cultural reasons as well as because of the diversity, peculiarity and beauty of the natural features of this landscape section as a recreational area of high experience value.
