Reinhard Wolf (geographer)

Reinhard Wolf (born April 27, 1950 in Künzelsau ) is a German geographer , nature and monument conservationist and non-fiction author .

Life

Wolf grew up and went to school in Marbach am Neckar and lives there too.

Professional career

Wolf holds a degree in geography from the University of Stuttgart . From January 1976 he was employed in the nature conservation administration of the state of Baden-Württemberg , initially in the district office for nature conservation and landscape management in Stuttgart . In August 1987, Wolf was appointed head of the district office for nature conservation and landscape management at the regional council in Karlsruhe , which he headed for ten years. From 1997 onwards, as the state curator of Baden-Württemberg, he headed the district office for nature conservation and landscape management in Stuttgart. In 2005, the district office was transformed into Section 56 - Nature Conservation and Landscape Management of the Stuttgart Regional Council, of which he was from now on head of the division. Wolf retired on October 1, 2013.

Functions and memberships

At the age of 13, Wolf joined the Swabian Alb Association . From 2005 to 2017 he was Deputy President of the Swabian Alb Association. Wolf is on the board of the Swabian Heimatbund and the Baden-Württemberg regional association of the German Forest Protection Association . He is a board member of the Schiller Club Marbach . Wolf is involved in the German Nature Conservation Union and the BUND . He advises the Society for Natural History in Württemberg , the Society for the Preservation and Research of Small Monuments in Baden-Württemberg , the Historical Association for Württemberg Franconia , the Historical Association for the City and District of Ludwigsburg and the Rieser Nature Conservation Association.

Wolf shot 25 episodes of the series Treffpunkt im Grünen with SWR .

Honors

• In 2009 Wolf received the Gerhard Thielcke Nature Conservation Prize from BUND Baden-Württemberg.
• In 2012, Wolf received the Silver Hemisphere from the German National Committee for Monument Protection .
• Wolf is an honorary member of the Swabian Heimatbund.
• In 2017 Wolf was made an honorary member of the Swabian Alb Association.
